Construction transforms Sihanoukville, Cambodia

The port city of Sihanoukville, Cambodia, has long been a quiet vacation destination for Cambodians and foreigners traveling on a budget. Recently, an influx of Chinese investment has unleashed a construction free-for-all in the seaside town.  Dozens of high-rise hotel-condos and casinos are going up, along with 300 factories planned for an inland special economic zone. While this has boosted the city's economy, soaring rent and forced evictions have displaced locals.

Now situated beside a major construction zone, in 2013, a stretch of bungalows met otherwise empty beach:
